Tess brings hands-on experience in evaluating and treating a wide range of dermatologic conditions, including:
-
Acne and advanced acne management, including Accutane® therapy

Rosacea and inflammatory skin conditions
-
Psoriasis and chronic dermatologic disorders

Her clinical approach emphasizes early identification, practical treatment strategies, and patient-centered care. She is particularly passionate about helping providers feel more confident in recognizing and managing skin conditions that often present in routine visits.
As co-founder of Pine Point Medical, a patient-centered primary care practice based in Ithaca, New York, Tess has built a model of care focused on accessibility and strong provider-patient relationships. The practice, which she developed alongside her husband, serves individuals and families across the Finger Lakes region.
At Pine Point Medical, she provides comprehensive care that blends primary care with dermatology, lifestyle medicine, and preventative health. This experience has shaped her perspective as both a provider and educator, grounding her teaching in real clinical scenarios and the everyday challenges faced in practice.

Approach to Patient Care and Education

Tess and Doug MacQueen, co-founders of Pine Point Medical in Ithaca, New York, dedicated to delivering accessible, patient-centered care.
Tess believes that effective dermatologic care goes beyond diagnosis. Her approach integrates clinical knowledge with a broader understanding of patient health, including:
-
Lifestyle medicine principles
-
Nutrition and its role in skin health
-
Physical activity and stress management
-
The connection between appearance, confidence, and overall well-being
Her continuing education includes coursework through Harvard University, where she further developed her understanding of lifestyle-based approaches to patient care.
This perspective carries into her teaching, where she focuses on delivering information that is not only clinically accurate, but also practical and immediately applicable.

Global Health & Broader Experience
In addition to her clinical work, Tess has participated in global health initiatives through International Medical Relief, providing care in underserved communities across the world. Alongside the Pine Point Medical team, her work has taken her to the rainforests of Peru, the tropics of Belize, rural communities in India, and most recently, Ecuador.
In these settings, she has helped diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, often with limited resources, while also supporting the distribution of essential medical supplies. These experiences have provided a unique perspective on healthcare delivery, highlighting both the challenges and the impact of accessible, patient-centered care.
They have also reinforced her commitment to compassionate medicine, adaptability, and the importance of meeting patients where they are. These principles continue to shape both her clinical work and her approach to education.

Community Involvement & Giving Back
Beyond her clinical and educational work, Tess is deeply committed to supporting her local community. She is actively involved in a range of initiatives that focus on health, education, and community connection.
From supporting local schools and nonprofit organizations to mentoring students and participating in community events, she believes in showing up and contributing in meaningful ways. Her involvement reflects a broader philosophy that strong communities play a critical role in overall health and well-being.
This commitment to service, both locally and globally, is a core part of who she is as a provider and educator.
